|The plot before building 2005|
It's now 7 years since we bought La Pasera. During that time we have taken on much more work than we first intended; but that's often how it goes. We had a basic idea of what we wanted in the garden and that hasn't really changed much from that original set of thoughts. The time it has taken has been more protracted than we first thought and the sheer amount of physical hard work and my ongoing back problems has limited our impetus to get it finished.
The painters are here at the moment and it is making a really big difference to the overall feel of the place to see the garage/studio finally painted and the house re-painted properly. We have several projects still to complete such as the patio to pave, the front driveway to level and install drainage, gravel to source and put down and, further mosaics to install but we anticipate it being completed by next year.

Looking back on old photographs it soon becomes apparent how much work we have done. Often learning on the job, we took on most projects ourselves after experiencing a couple of useless contractors. We have every confidence in the painters as the lead man is from the village and we have seen his work in the past and he does a really efficient job.
Once all the construction and hard-landscaping has been completed we will be able to concentrate our efforts on maintenance, fine-tuning the planting schemes and continue growing our own fruit and vegetables. Until such time we will continue to enjoy our environment and feel a sense of pride in what we have managed to do so far.
